He was a Humble Man
He was a Humble Man
Rapsodie Adams
Herein lies the question, am I a humble woman; according to God’s definition (I’m not going to be able to slide through this one, am I)? Sometimes I wonder if I use what is not Jesus’ example, as a scale to determine whether or not I am humble; in the first place, maybe I use a preacher or a teacher that has charged hundreds or even thousands of dollars to go to a church to preach and teach the word of God…in fact, charging for the very thing (the gospel) that God has given them for free. By the same token, perhaps I am comparing myself to the beautiful people, who would not even take my phone call for those same hundreds of dollars. Well then, it would be easy for me to come up with the idea that I am not only humble, but very humble (slide).
The truth is, I have only one example…and his name is Jesus.
He chose to come to earth to be born a man. (He humbled himself)
He chose to make himself of no reputation. (He humbled himself)
He chose to become a servant of all. (He humbled himself)
He chose to take up his cross, he hung between thieves. (He humbled himself)
He chose to bare the sin. (He humbled himself)
He chose to bare the shame. (He humbled himself)
He was the Great I AM, but our example, of a humble man.
A Prayer
Dear Father, please forgive me if I looked at what is really of the world to be my example of humility. Your life is my example, but when I look at it through my eyes, I see only an impossibility. But, when I look through the eyes of the spirit, the Holy Spirit shows me the potter, molding me. For this reason, I know through your hands and the Holy Spirit’s power, I cannot miss your mark. Lord I humble myself before you and your creation. Help me to remember, being humble is not just being on bended knees, before you, but before all mankind, whom you have made.
Be blessed in Jesus’ name.
